Rugby Explained

The Pitch

Rugby is traditionally played on a grass pitch which is no more than 100 metres long and 70 metres wide. At Welford Road, the pitch is 97 metres by 66 metres and is a grass hybrid that meets the demands of the modern game while keeping the old turf we all know and love.

In The Pitch section of Rugby Explained we break down the areas of the pitch, explaining what each line represents and their significance in the game.
